How long to cure Base Coat
Base Coat is where the GELCARE curing technique gets a little more specific.
Apply an even layer of Base Coat to one nail, then immediately place it under the LED Lamp for a quick 5-second cure. This short cure sets the gel in place so your application stays exactly where you put it.
Repeat the process one nail at a time. Once Base Coat has been applied and set on all five nails, place your full hand under the GELCARE LED Nail Lamp and cure for 60 seconds.
That quick 5-second cure isn’t the final cure. Think of it as setting your work in place before giving the entire hand its full cure.
Why does GELCARE set Base Coat for 5 seconds first?
Precision.
Base Coat is still fluid before it cures. Working one nail at a time and setting each application for 5 seconds helps prevent the gel from moving while you work on the remaining nails.
It also gives you more control around the cuticle area, where you definitely don’t want uncured gel wandering.
Once all five nails have been set, the full 60-second cure completes the step.

How long to cure Gel Polish colour
Each coat of GELCARE Gel Polish should cure for 60 seconds under the LED Lamp.
GELCARE recommends applying three thin layers of colour, curing each layer individually for the full 60 seconds. Don’t apply all three and cure at the end. Each layer needs its own time under the lamp.
Thin is important here. Working with a small amount of gel on your brush helps create an even application and allows you to build your colour gradually.
Three thin coats will give you a much better result than trying to get there in one very ambitious coat.
Do darker Gel Polish colours need longer to cure?
Stick to the recommended 60-second cure for each GELCARE colour coat rather than changing the curing time based on the shade.
What matters is applying the colour in thin layers and curing each one completely according to the GELCARE technique.
If a colour is highly pigmented, resist the temptation to compensate with a thicker coat. Build opacity with thin layers instead.

The easy solution is not to guess. Use thin layers, position your hand properly inside the lamp and complete the full recommended curing time for every layer.
A few seconds saved here and there isn’t really saving anything if the manicure isn’t being done properly.
Can you over-cure Gel Polish?
More time under the lamp isn’t a substitute for following the recommended technique.

After your Top Coat has completed its full 3-minute cure, you can wipe the surface with a pad soaked in rubbing alcohol if any tackiness remains. At this point, your manicure is finished, so there’s no next gel layer that needs to adhere.
